Baker & McKenzie Partner Named a 2010 Woman of Influence in Silicon Valley

Palo Alto, CA, February 4, 2010 – Baker & McKenzie labor and employment partner Cynthia Jackson from the Firm’s Palo Alto office has been recognized as one of Silicon Valley’s 2010 Women of Influence by the Silicon Valley Business Journal. Jackson will be honored at a private reception and awards dinner in April in San Jose, California.
The award recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of women who are leaders in either the private, public or not-for-profit sectors, who have quickly climbed the corporate ladder or branched out to start their own companies, and who give back to their communities as board members, volunteers and as role models.
Nominated by her peers and selected by Women of Influence judges--Martha Marsh, Roberta Hayashi, Jane Williams and Telle Whitney-- Jackson, together with 99 other outstanding women executives, entrepreneurs, professionals, politicians, philanthropists, etc., will be featured in the March 19th issue of the Silicon Valley Business Journal.
Jackson has over 30 years of experience working on domestic and international employment counseling and litigation, especially with respect to the global coordination of personnel-related initiatives. She also advises on domestic and international personnel policies and implementation, employment agreements, severance agreements and obligations, employment and data privacy, corporate social responsibility and other matters related to employment law.
Jackson serves as chair of the Firm’s California Employment Practice Group, defending employers in litigation disputes involving wrongful discharge, state and federal discrimination laws, whistleblower, privacy and other work-related tort claims, ERISA, Section 301 claims and unfair business practice claims, among others. She also represents employers in appellate and administrative proceedings, arbitrations and class actions.
Jackson has been consistently recognized as a leader in her field by Chambers USA, Best Lawyers of America, Northern California Super Lawyers and America’s Leading Lawyers for Business. Her articles have appeared in numerous publications, including The San Francisco and Los Angeles Daily Journal and Financier Worldwide. She is also a frequent speaker for various seminars and institutions, such as the National Foreign Trade Council and at Stanford University.
