London, UK, 4 July – Leading global law firm Baker & McKenzie has further strengthened its Banking & Finance practice group with the appointment of Sébastien Marcelin-Rice as Partner in London.
Sébastien joins the Firm from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he was a Senior Associate in the firm’s banking practice in London having also spent time in the firm’s Paris and Milan offices. He is the second new partner in the London team this summer following the appointment of Baker & McKenzie Senior Associate Lynn Rosell Rowley as Partner on 1 July.
Baker & McKenzie Head of London Banking & Finance and Global Chair of Banking and Finance, Bernard Sharp said, "We're delighted to welcome Sébastien into our expanding Banking and Finance practice. His broad financing experience over the last 9 years and his more specific focus in emerging markets transactions and leveraged finance, resonates very well with our strengths as a practice, as well as our priorities for growth in London."
Sébastien focuses on sponsor and lender leveraged finance work, restructurings of leveraged credits, and emerging markets financing transactions. He is trilingual in French, Italian and English and recently spent nine months on secondment to the legal department of Crédit Suisse in London where he focused principally on emerging markets lending.
Sébastien commented: "Few law firms have a global banking and finance practice with a substantial presence on six continents comparable to that of Baker & McKenzie. I am excited to be joining a firm that not only has that platform and a leading global brand but also has ambitious plans for growth."
Sébastien's arrival also complements the appointment of Lynn Rosell Rowley as Partner. Lynn focuses on acquisition finance, in particular cross border and multi-jurisdictional leveraged finance, and syndicated lending. She also handles transactions involving debt restructuring.
Baker & McKenzie is organised into global practice and industry groups. The Banking & Finance practice group numbers more than 400 lawyers across EMEA, the Americas and Asia-Pacific.
