Singapore, 10 November 2011 – Baker & McKenzie.Wong & Leow, the member firm of Baker & McKenzie International in Singapore, is pleased to announce that Andy Leck, head of its Intellectual Property practice and co-head of its Dispute Resolution practice, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the International Trademark Association (INTA). The Board of Directors is the chief elected body of INTA and is responsible for the development and implementation of INTA’s strategic plan and oversight of its financial resources and of the chief staff executive.
Mr. Leck was elected to the board for his depth of knowledge in intellectual property law, with particular emphasis on trademark law; his appreciation of the issues facing the organisation; and his commitment and active participation in the organisation. Board members are nominated by the Nominating Committee and then elected by the Regular Members of the Association at the Annual Meeting of Members. Individuals are elected to a three-year term on the Board.
Mr. Leck has over 18 years of experience in contentious and non-contentious IP matters, litigation and arbitration. He also handles commercial, pharmaceutical and media-related IP. He is top ranked and recognized as a leading trademark practitioner by the world’s leading industry and legal publications including Managing IP, Legal 500 and Chambers Asia, the latter describing him as an "outstanding litigator and strategist", “a veteran practitioner in litigation and contentious work” and where clients “praise his quality service”.
