Baker & McKenzie Partner J. Brian Casey Appointed Executive Member of Canadian Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Committee

New York, USA, 16 December 2011 - J. Brian Casey, the head of Baker & McKenzie’s Litigation Practice Group in the Toronto office, was recently appointed as an executive member of the Arbitration Committee of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, which serves as the Canadian National Committee to the ICC International Court of Arbitration.
In addition to playing the key role of electing Canadian arbitrators to serve in ICC cases, the Arbitration Committee of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, soon to be renamed “ICC Canada”, works to promote the practice of international arbitration within Canada’s business and legal communities.
J. Brian Casey has consistently been recognized as a leader in international arbitration by Chambers Global, Who’s Who in Public International Law, as well as in the American Lawyer/Lexpert Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada. He is designated a “leading practitioner” for both international commercial arbitration and commercial litigation by Lexpert and is listed in Euromoney’s Guide to the World’s Leading Experts in Commercial Arbitration. He is also listed in Who’s Who in Public International Law.
Mr. Casey also occupies several other important positions within the Canadian and international arbitration community. Most notably, he is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and panel member of the International Bar Association. He has written and spoken extensively on the subject of arbitration, having co-authored Arbitration Law of Canada: Practice and Procedure (Juris Publishing Inc., 2005) and contributed to International Arbitration Checklists (2nd, Juris Publishing Inc., 2009). Mr. Casey is also a co-author of the Canadian chapter of The Baker & McKenzie International Arbitration Yearbook, an annual publication released by the Firm’s International Arbitration Practice Group.
