Asia Pacific, 15 December 2011 – Baker & McKenzie was awarded “Best International Firm for Women in Business Law” at the inaugural
Euromoney Legal Media Group Asia Women in Business Law Awards 2011. The Award recognises Baker & McKenzie's dedication to the advancement of women in the legal profession.
Jeremy Pitts, Baker & McKenzie's Asia Pacific Regional Chairman said, “This important honour recognises that our professional environment provides an opportunity for success for all. In 2013, we celebrate 50 years in the Asia Pacific region. We are proud that the same principles of equality, merit and opportunity on which Firm was founded hold true today.”
Baker & McKenzie was also nominated for "Best International China Practice" and "Most Innovative International Firm”. Six lawyers from across the Firm's 14 Asia Pacific offices were also nominated as leading practitioners in their fields: Joan Fitzhenry (Dispute Resolution), Anne Hung (Energy and Natural Resources), Angela Lee (Real Estate), Poh Lee Tan (M&A/ Private Equity), Jennifer Van Dale (Labour and Employment) and Adeline Wong (Tax).
Poh Lee Tan, Managing Partner of Baker & McKenzie's Hong Kong, China and Vietnam offices received the award on behalf of the Firm.
This award follows the award of "Best in Labour and Employment" to Mirjam de Blécourt at the European Euromoney Women in Business Law Awards in June 2011.
This most recent accolade recognises the meritocratic and performance-based culture which has been fostered for many decades at Baker & McKenzie, and reflects the Firm's continued investment in talent and diversity. This has been recognised in a number of recent awards, including:
