San Francisco/Palo Alto, USA, July 5, 2012 – Baker & McKenzie represented AgraQuest, the global biotechnology company and leader in green agriculture, in its announced sale to Bayer CropScience for a total purchase price of close to US$ 500 million.

AgraQuest, headquartered in Davis, California, USA, is a global supplier of innovative biological pest management solutions based on natural microorganisms. According to the deal announcement, the acquisition will enable Bayer CropScience to further build a leading technology platform for green products and to strengthen its strategically important fruits and vegetables business. Bayer CropScience is a subgroup of Bayer AG, the leading global health care, nutrition and high-tech materials company based in Leverkusen, Germany.

AgraQuest products are available in more than 30 countries including Canada, USA, Mexico, Brazil and European countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Italy. The acquisition includes AgraQuest´s R&D site in California and a state-of-the-art production facility for the cost-effective production of biopesticides and biochemicals in Tlaxcala, Mexico.
