Martha Tatiana Garcés Carvajal leads the Labor and Immigration practice in Baker & McKenzie’s Bogotá office. She handles matters related to labor, social security and immigration, and participates in negotiations, planning strategies and assessing key matters for clients. Ms. Garcés Carvajal obtained her lawyer’s degree at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. She received her graduate degree in Commercial Law and Labor Law at the Universidad de los Andes and in the Universidad Javeriana, respectively.
Practice Focus
Ms. Garcés Carvajal routinely advises on general labor law, labor procedure, labor agreements, including payroll benefits and promotion in collective labor agreements for massive workers’ terminations. She regularly handles advisory in workers’ transfer matters, and addresses legal issues in mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Garces Carvajal also works on the liquidation of companies, quasi-fiscal contributions and labor audits. Furthermore, Ms. Garces Carvajal provides sound counsel on integral social security and occupational health, immigration matters and labor litigation. She likewise represents clients in administrative procedures before labor and immigration authorities.
