Makoto Ryan Ueno is a member of the Energy, Mining and Infrastructure (Major Projects) group in Baker & McKenzie’s Tokyo office. Prior to joining the Firm, he worked in the litigation department of a US-based law firm in Tokyo, focusing on IP litigation, antitrust investigation and major project contract disputes. Mr. Ueno has also served as legal consultant for an international joint venture project at a Japanese domestic company. Mr. Ueno is currently seconded to the legal department of a major Japanese trading company.

Practice Focus

Mr. Ueno focuses on the areas of energy, mining, power, gas and international arbitration. He acts for clients in a number of matters, including Japanese trading companies and utilities making overseas investments in natural resources and power.

Mr. Ueno advises clients on project agreements, due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, providing general contract advice, international commercial arbitrations and litigation.
