Opportunities Across High-Growth Markets

Baker & McKenzie report discusses the deepening trade, investment and ideas connecting high-growth markets, and how global business is responding. Asia is playing a central role in driving this global connectivity.

High-growth markets are adaptable, innovative and full of energy because they deal with enormous change and they must keep pace. At Baker & McKenzie, we have operated in high-growth markets from one side of the map to the other for more than 60 years. Inspired by what we saw, we embarked on a journey to explore exactly how the global business landscape is adapting to the economic power of high-growth markets.

The third report in Baker & McKenzie’s series analysing the impact of the rise of high-growth markets on global businesses includes the results of interviews from 20 senior leaders from multinational corporations, who discuss how their businesses are adapting to a new economic order in which developing emerging markets strategies is key to corporate success.

"From Silks and Spices to Dollars and Devices: What Asia's Deepening Links with other High-Growth Markets mean for Corporate Strategy" is published in association with The Economist Corporate Network, can be downloaded here.

Baker & McKenzie’s new report, Opportunities Across High-Growth Markets: Trends in Cross-Border M&A is based on a survey of senior executives from developed and high growth markets (BRICS, Vietnam, Indonesia and Turkey) conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit. It examines current and emerging trends in cross-border M&A and identifies factors influencing success and potential risk factors that can affect companies as they expand into new markets.

Customary Issues in Negotiation

Even simple deals can become complicated when trying to find common ground between jurisdictions that each have unique and complex legal and regulatory nuances. This interactive map provides country-specific profiles that may enable you to prepare and scope your deals more effectively.

Going Somewhere? First, Grab Your Passport

Many of the opportunities, challenges and risks of doing business in high-growth markets vary by country. How you negotiate an M&A agreement in Russia may differ from your approach in Brazil. The types of compliance issues that arise in India might look nothing like those you face in South Africa, Indonesia or Vietnam. In this passport series, our partners offer their insights on how to improve your chances of M&A success in key markets around the world.
