Frédéric Bétrisey joined Baker & McKenzie in 1999 and has been a partner in the Firm’s Corporate and Banking department in Geneva since July 2006. He routinely handles banking and finance matters, including lending transactions, financial services and derivatives. Mr. Bétrisey was admitted to the Geneva Bar in 1996 after his clerkship at Dinichert de Lavallaz & Vulliemin from 1994 to 1996. He also worked as an in-house lawyer for the Swiss Federal Banking Commission from 1997 to 1999, where he led various proceedings in connection with the general supervision of banks and securities dealers, the co-operation between financial regulators and the enforcement of Swiss banking laws.
Practice Focus
Mr. Bétrisey acts for banks and borrowers in various types of banking and finance transactions, including project finance, acquisition finance, syndicated lending and financial leases. He also focuses his practice on global custody and financial services matters, and regularly advises clients — including a number of Geneva and international private banks — on the regulatory aspects of collective investments schemes. These include the registration of investment funds and the marketing of hedge funds and private equity structures. He also provides assistance to several Geneva banks in connection with their securities lending and derivative transactions.
