Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program is built upon our core value of supporting the local communities in which we live and work. Our CSR program assists us in pursuing our commercial and business objectives in a way that is consistent with the values of our people as well as those of our clients.
Pro Bono & Community
The Firm actively supports and encourages the active involvement of our people in pro bono and community service. We have been involved in a number of high profile CSR activities in Vietnam since the inception of our offices.
CSR Programme Highlights
- Over the years, we have helped the Vietnamese government to enact legal reforms that have, in the World Bank’s assessment, resulted in a historic reduction of poverty in Vietnam. Our volunteer work focuses on macro level “technical legal assistance,” and most of the time and capabilities of our professional staff are devoted to the various committees that make up the Vietnam Business Forum, whose Manufacturing & Distribution Working Group is co-chaired by our managing partner, Fred Burke.
- We continue to sponsor the Saigon Children’s Charity. In addition, discount programs are offered to charitable non-governmental organizations operating in Vietnam. This has enabled us to help numerous public health and basic human needs organizations reach out to the poorer parts of Vietnam. In particular, we have worked with Atlantic Philanthropies (a major charitable foundation), the Asia Injury Prevention Foundation which helped to establish a factory to produce helmets for kids, and the Canadian Centre for Disease Control which helped with their AIDS awareness programs.
- We are one of the founding members of the United Way Vietnam, and have repeatedly given to the various charity events organized by the various chambers of commerce, especially American Chamber of Commerce, the Hong Kong Business Association in Vietnam, European Chamber of Commerce and the Singapore Business Association in Vietnam.
- The Vietnam offices are a sponsor and active participant in the Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research each year and are long-standing sponsors of the Saigon Children’s Charity Annual Cyclo Races.
