Baker & McKenzie Tax Practice Recognized at 2010 ITR Asia Tax Awards

Hong Kong, China, November 25, 2010 – Baker & McKenzie’s Asia Pacific tax practice was once again honored with a number of wins at the 2010 International Tax Review (ITR) Asia Tax Awards. The Firm’s offices and member firms won a total of seven awards and 39 nominations, surpassing last year’s six awards and 27 nominations.
Baker & McKenzie and its member firms have won the following awards:
• Asia Tax Disputes Firm of the Year
• China Tax Disputes Firm of the Year
• Hong Kong Tax Disputes Firm of the Year
• Indonesia Case of the Year
• Malaysia Case of the Year
• Singapore Transfer Pricing Firm of the Year
• Philippines Tax Disputes Firm of the Year
“This is an extremely gratifying honor and is a testament to the expanse and quality of our tax practice across the region,” said Michael Olesnicky, head of Baker & McKenzie’s Tax Practice in Asia Pacific.
Baker & McKenzie also received nominations in 32 other categories, which included International Law Firm in Asia, Asia Tax Firm of the Year, Asia Restructuring Tax Team of the Year, Asia M&A Tax Team of the Year, Asia Energy Tax Team of the Year and Asia Case of the Year.
In August 2010, ITR invited advisory firms in 14 jurisdictions – Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam – to submit three examples of their best work in the August 2009 to August 2010 period. The submissions were considered for three categories (tax, tax disputes and transfer pricing) in each of the countries, the 10 case of the year awards in Australia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan and South Korea respectively, as well as for the 17 pan-Asian awards. International Tax Review editorial staff compiled the awards shortlists based on these submissions and consulted with tax executives responsible for the region to choose the winners from these nominees.
