Biography

Curtis Masters practices in the areas of corporate finance, telecommunications, privatization and general corporate law. From 1993 to 1994, Mr. Masters practiced in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia as special legal counsel to Gov. Boris Nemtsov. He also was a special legal advisor to the regional offices of Russia’s Federal Agency for Insolvency and Federal State Property Committee. Mr. Masters serves as co-chairman of the Legal Working Group of President Nazarbayev’s Investors Council, and has published numerous articles about investment issues concerning Central Asia.

Practice Focus

Mr. Masters focuses his practice on international corporate finance, cross-border mergers and acquisitions and inward-bound investments in the former USSR. He routinely represents major international corporations with on-ground investments in the Central Asian republics of the former Soviet Union, including those engaged in cross-border transactions in Central Asian countries. His wide client base includes companies in all major sectors of the local economy — including banking and finance, oil & gas, mining, transportation, leasing, telecommunications, shipping and construction.
