Biography

Carrie Lui is a special counsel in Baker McKenzie Hong Kong office. She is experienced across a broad range of sectors and industries. Carrie's tax knowledge is complimented by her experience working as a tax lawyer in New Zealand prior to joining Baker McKenzie.

Carrie is also a regular speaker and panelists in major client conferences of the Firm.

Practice Focus

Carrie's practice covers a wide range of tax matters with particular focus on corporate restructuring, merger and acquisitions, private equity and investment funds and tax disputes.

  • Advising multinational groups on tax and stamp duty aspects of various restructuring and recapitalization projects.

  • Assisting a broad spectrum of clients (including individuals) on a wide range of contentious tax audits and disputes with tax authorities.

  • Advising on the tax aspects of significant M&A deals across a range of industries.

  • Advising multinational groups on permanent establishment and transfer pricing related issues arising from cross border arrangements.

  • Advising major financial institutions and investment funds on Hong Kong income tax and stamp duty issues.

  • Advising multi-national corporate groups on the tax aspects of business reorganization involving relocation of intellectual properties.
