Baker McKenzie appoints London Chief Operating Officer
Firm hires former Linklaters' Global COO Simon Thompson
Global law firm Baker McKenzie has appointed Simon Thompson as Chief Operating Officer in its London office. Simon joins from Change Harbour; an independent management consultancy firm [he co-founded], which specialises in technology strategy and implementation, business process analysis, change management and organisational design and project management for the legal sector. He will serve on the Firm's London Management Committee led by Managing Partner Alex Chadwick and commences his new role in August. As COO, Simon will be responsible for London operations and for supporting the implementation of the Firm's strategy in London.

Simon began his career at British Petroleum (BP) where he spent nine years working in IT management. He joined Linklaters in 1994, becoming Director of Information Systems and Strategy in 2001 where he developed Linklaters’ information systems technology, organisation and governance strategy. In 2007 he was appointed their Global Chief Operating Officer, responsible for leading their Business Services worldwide. In 2011, Simon co-founded legal management consultancy, Change Harbour.
