Success at the 2016 Euromoney European Women in Business Law Awards
- Most Innovative International Firm for Women, Best International Firm for pro bono work, Best in tax, Best in Employment and Overall Outstanding Female Practitioner Award
We won five major accolades at the 2016 Euromoney European Women in Business Law Awards, which took place last night in London at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower.
The awards, now in their sixth year, highlight the best firms for women in business law across Europe, the best individual female lawyers in their practice areas, as well as in-house teams, and the best firms to promote gender diversity and talent management.
Constanze Ulmer-Eilfort, managing partner of the Firm's Germany and Austria offices, and chair of the Firm's Policy Committee, won the most coveted and prestigious individual award of the night - the Overall Outstanding Female Practitioner Award. Nominated by outside counsel at clients across Europe, this award recognized her exceptional work and management skills. Constanze was in London for the ceremony to personally accept the award, which was presented by Paul Rawlinson, Managing Partner of the Firm's London office and Global Chair-elect of Baker & McKenzie.
Constanze said: "I am very happy and honored to receive this special award. Many of our female partners would have been equally deserving of it, which is emblematic of both the talent we have and the real potential women lawyers in our Firm have to move ahead."
Paul added: "I was delighted to present Constanze with this award which recognizes the excellent work that she and other women in our teams continue to do. Having known and worked with her for more than two decades I can think of no one better qualified to receive the honor of the Outstanding European Female Practitioner. It reflects her deep knowledge and global perspective working with domestic and international clients, as well as her leadership of our Firm in Germany, Austria and globally."
Among other awards received on the evening were the Most Innovative International Firm for Women, recognizing Baker & McKenzie's exceptional client service, and Best International Firm for pro bono work. This is the first time that our pro bono work has been recognized in these awards. Partners Nicole Looks from the Firm's Frankfurt office and Mirjam de Blécourt from the Amsterdam office were awarded with Best in Tax and Best in Employment respectively. As well as winning five awards, Baker & McKenzie was nominated in a record 29 categories.
Commenting on the Firm's significant achievement, Gary Senior, Baker & McKenzie Chair of the EMEA region said,
"I am really pleased that we have been recognized as one of the leading firms in Europe for women in business law. These awards demonstrate our continued commitment to advancing diversity both in our Firm and in our profession. They also highlight the individual achievement of our truly excellent women lawyers."
