Latin America's largest law firm Baker McKenzie is celebrating its 60th anniversary in the region. The milestone was officially commemorated during the Firm's recent annual Western Hemisphere leadership meeting, which took place in New York and brought together most of the partners from North and Latin America as well as other regions.

Since opening its first office in the region in 1955, the pioneering law firm's regional platform has grown to 15 offices in seven jurisdictions and driven by nearly 750 lawyers across Latin America. Baker McKenzie has since been advising multinationals investing in the region as well as the most prominent Latin American companies competing internationally.   In addition, it was recently the first international law firm to win the Chambers Latin American Law Firm of the year award.

Commemorating this occasion, Baker McKenzie Global Chair Eduardo Leite said,

"Our founders conceived the strategy of making Baker McKenzie truly global and that inspired idea started to be realized with the opening of an office in Caracas, Venezuela in 1955. At that time, our only other office was in Chicago. Since then we have continued to follow our clients and expand internationally building an unmatched global footprint of 77 offices in 47 countries. All our offices include professionals who have deep roots in their communities and are able to advise clients with the powerful combination of best local knowledge and experience with world class standards."

Baker McKenzie's Chair of Latin America Claudia Prado said,

“Both our longstanding presence in Latin America and our global expertise are unique among other law firms in this region. For us, ‘global’ means not only being present in many jurisdictions but also having the resources to help clients tackle their most complex legal issues around the world. We are committed to providing our clients with the highest level of service and thank them for their confidence and trust over our 60 years.”

"Overall, Latin America continues to perform strongly as growing economies throughout the region are drawing  investment from around the world and inspiring deals in varying sectors and projects. That has helped Baker McKenzie specifically, we have seen double-digit growth in revenues in Latin America over the last two years."

Baker McKenzie has 15 offices and more than 1,800 lawyers and staff across its Latin America regional network, which includes Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Venezuela and its cooperation agreement with Brazilian firm Trench, Rossi e Watanabe.
