The moratorium period under Presidential Instruction No. 10 of 2011, which prohibits the issuance of new area use licenses (including pinjam pakai or "borrow to use" permits) over any areas which were designated as "primary forest" or peatland area, has been extended. Through Presidential Instruction No. 6 of 2013, the President has extended the moratorium period for another two years (i.e., until 13 May 2015).

There is an increasing trend in the UK towards accepting a blanket notification of claims, or circumstances that might give rise to a claim, as valid notification under an insurance policy. Australian companies should similarly consider notifying claims (or circumstances that could/ might give rise to them) as soon as they are discovered. If not, insureds run the risk of denial of coverage due to a failure to notify.

The Myanmar Ministry of Energy has commenced an auction for 30 oil and gas blocks in the Myanmar offshore areas. The auction invites bids for 11 shallow water blocks and 19 deep water blocks, to be conducted on a production sharing basis with the Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise.
