International Trade, Customs & Compliance in Thailand

Connecting products with buyers is as integral to business as production itself. Yet getting your goods and services to market is no simple task. From conception to consumption, your business strategy has to anticipate every twist and turn in the road.

At Baker & McKenzie, we can help you comply with — or influence — the rules to help ensure your products are well received all over the world. Our practice includes all aspects of inbound and outbound trade activities in Thailand. Clients look to us for advice on domestic customs laws, investment incentives for special industries, and laws and regulations affecting international trade, including multilateral and bilateral trade agreements. We also have substantial experience in handling administrative and judicial proceedings related to trade remedies, including anti-dumping, countervailing duty and safeguards. We advise on:

  • Customs planning and compliance – Obtaining customs rulings; analyzing customs regulations and requirements; advising on transfer pricing and rules of origin
  • Outbound trade and corporate compliance – Advising on compliance, export control, and trade sanctions; anti-terrorism and anti-money laundering regulations; antitrust and competition laws
  • Trade agreements and trade remedies – Interpreting applicability of WTO regulations and bilateral, regional and global trade agreements; settling international trade disputes; conducting anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigations
  • Trade privileges – Identifying privileges granted to industries in export processing zones, industrial estates and those promoted by the BOI; applying for related promotional status

We summarize the changes under Brazil’s merger control regime, which sets out new regulatory approval and notification requirements, as well as new rules for gun-jumping and an expedited process for analyzing merger notifications. The new law takes effect on 29 May 2012.
Doing Business in the Netherlands 2012 provides easy access to information about the legal and fiscal environment of the Netherlands and the rules and regulations that companies must consider when doing business here. The booklet describes the main implications for customs, distribution and sales, considers the legal forms of companies, tax rules and regulations and labor law. These are all important aspects to consider when establishing a profitable firm.
This monthly publication prepared by the Global International Trade, Compliance and Customs Practice Group covers customs and other import requirements, export controls and sanctions, trade remedies, WTO and anti-corruption matters.
