Ted Murphy counsels multinational companies on customs compliance issues, particularly those relating to international trade agreements and customs valuation matters. In addition to his practice, Mr. Murphy is a frequent speaker on customs compliance-related topics at seminars in the United States and abroad.
Practice Focus
Mr. Murphy assists clients develop, implement and maintain effective internal customs compliance programs and helps prepare for membership in voluntary trade programs, such as the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism and Importer Self-Assessment programs. Mr. Murphy’s extensive experience includes representing clients in US Customs and Border Protection Focused Assessments and other types of customs compliance audits and enforcement actions, including US Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigations. . He also provides customs and other regulatory advice in connection with corporate restructurings, mergers and acquisitions and regularly works with colleagues in other practices and in other jurisdictions on multi-disciplinary compliance issues, such as the intersection between transfer pricing and customs valuation, IP issues and others.
