Our office in Geneva opened in 1968 in response to the growing movement of capital to Switzerland. In addition to advising banks and leading Swiss and international corporations, our lawyers are key advisers to international governmental organizations and global families.

Many of our lawyers have studied or practiced abroad, while others have obtained qualifications in a second discipline — all to ensure that we provide the rich insights and deep skills clients expect of global advisers. We are supported by our global and regional practice groups, our European Law Centre in Brussels, our Central European Transactions Team based in Frankfurt and our European Coordination Centre in London.

The Internal Revenue Service, together with the Department of Treasury, issued Notice 2015-66 (the Notice) which intends to amend the regulations under FATCA to extend various transitional rules. The intended amendments provides relief for financial institutions from impending deadlines and allows them to rely on the Notice until the regulations are amended.

What this means for Africa is elaborated on in this edition’s Feature section along with other legal developments across EMEA.
