Suriyong Tungsuwan is a member of the Bangkok office’s Labour & Employment, Real Estate, Hotel/Resort & Property Development, and International Trade, Compliance & Customs practice groups. He joined Baker & McKenzie in 1982 and became a partner in 1993.

Practice Focus

Mr. Tungsuwan is active in the areas of corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, real estate and property development, labour and employment and executive transfers, as well as trade regulations and customs. His clients include commercial banks, multinational companies and foreign industry players — including Japanese auto companies, pharmaceutical companies, and petrochemical companies.

Representative Legal Matters

• Represented multinational companies in downsizing their workforces, including defending both administrative and court actions initiated by employees and labour unions. 
• Assisted a major Japanese auto company in restructuring its joint ventures with Thai partners by preparing a petition for corporate reorganization, liquidating one of the joint venture companies and recapitalizing and restructuring the remaining ones, preparing a settlement agreement with the Thai partners and downsizing the workforce. 
• Acted for real estate investors in legal due diligence investigations, joint ventures, acquisitions, and the development of hotel and residential projects. 
• Advised multinational companies on various customs issues, regulatory requirements and customs valuation issues. 
• Acted for foreign investors in establishing business operations and presences in Thailand, including advising on Board of Investment promotion, the Foreign Business Law, and related issues.
