Simon Hughes is a partner in Firm's Corporate Group in London with over 20 years experience in advising clients on Private Equity and M&A transactions. He joined the firm in 1990 and became a partner in 1996. Since 2006, Simon has been head of the Firm's Private Equity Practice Group for Europe and the Middle East and sits on the Global Steering Committee. He is also head of one of the London offices' four Corporate Groups.
Practice Focus
Simon is primarily focussed on leveraged buyouts, investments, acquisitions and disposals for UK and international clients. A large proportion of Simon's work is in relation to cross border or multi-country transactions. He has significant experience in the telecoms and healthcare sectors.

- Japan Tobacco on its USD8 billion acquisition of Reynolds International from RJR Nabisco involving 100 companies in 40 jurisdictions.
- Blackstone, CVC and Providence on their bid in consortium with France Telecom for a 51percent interest in Cesky Telecom.
- Deutsche Bank Equity Special Situations and Bivideon on the LBO, refinancing and sale of TMobile Czech and Ceske Radiokomunikace to funds managed by Mid Europa, Al Bateen and Lehman Brothers Private Equity.
- EQT on the restructuring of the leveraged acquisition debt and equity of Sanitec.
- Mid Europa on several bids for businesses in the healthcare sector.
- KBC Private Equity on the buyout of the Petainer business from Rexam plc.
- Macquarie on its bid for Parking International Holding (NCP).
- Management on the ZAR25 billion LBO by Bain Capital of South Africa's Edgar Consolidated Stores.
