Robert Hudson is the managing partner and senior tax partner of the Miami office with 40 years of experience in international tax law. Mr. Hudson is consistently top-ranked by Chambers Global, Chambers USA, Citywealth's Leading Lawyers, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in American Law, and Euromoney’s Guide to the World's Leading Tax Advisers and Euromoney's Guide to the World's Leading Trusts and Estates Practitioners. He is one of the few lawyers in the US that have been listed in Best Lawyers in America for over 20 years.

Practice Focus

Mr. Hudson has represented a broad spectrum of international and domestic clients — including Fortune 500 companies and major non-US businesses — in their international, outbound tax planning and global tax minimization projects, as well as clients in major tax controversy cases. He also addresses FIRPTA and treaty-related issues for foreign clients investing in the US, and has done an increasing amount of wealth management, international tax and trust planning for very high net worth clients and financial institutions.

In 1990, Mr. Hudson was invited to testify before the US House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee on US taxation of foreign investment in the US. Earlier, he spearheaded the Florida Bar committee that wrote the pivotal draft legislation on the FIRPTA Withholding Tax, which was enacted by Congress as Code Section 1445 in 1984.

Additionally, Mr. Hudson's BNA portfolio on "Federal Tax Considerations of Foreign Investment in the U.S. Real Estate" is regarded as one of the leading authorities on that subject.

He has written extensively, particularly on international tax subjects, publishing more than 80 articles to date. He also lectures regularly before a wide variety of professional organizations throughout the world.
