Richard Weisman is the head of Baker & McKenzie's Global Tax Practice Group. A senior tax partner, Mr. Weisman has occupied various leadership positions within the Firm, and has served on Baker & McKenzie’s Global Executive Committee. He is a frequent speaker on international tax issues, and is an active participant in internal and external programs, including those by the Firm and the Tax Executives Institute. Mr. Weisman is a governor of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, and has also served on the Executive Committee of the Hong Kong branch of the International Fiscal Association. He is admitted to practice in New York and Massachusetts.
Practice Focus
Mr. Weisman advises on the taxation of cross-border transactions and investment, especially those involving Asia and the US. He advises on direct foreign investment, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, transfer pricing, permanent establishment concerns, tax treaty issues, wealth management matters and dispute resolution. Mr. Weisman has also represented clients and coalitions with respect to tax-related government relations initiatives in Asia.
