Upholding Right, Protecting Children
The International Save the Children Alliance, the largest independent organization for children worldwide, is a familiar name to many. And while name recognition is beneficial to an organization, it becomes a source of legal problems when others start using the trademarked name and logo for their own profit.
Save the Children’s name is a fundamentally important asset to the organization. Maintaining the integrity of its brand preserves public recognition and contributor loyalty and furthers Save the Children’s mission to provide children with healthy, happy and secure childhoods.
Because Save the Children operates in 120 countries, it needed assistance from a global law firm that could counsel on local laws while managing the big picture. Since 2001, Baker & McKenzie has worked pro bono to help identify, manage and protect Save the Children’s trademarks, logo and other intellectual property.
“Baker & McKenzie provided invaluable help with our ongoing work to protect the Save the Children logo and brand around the world,” said Charlotte Petri-Gornitzka, secretary general of the International Save the Children Alliance. “As a truly global organization, we rely on a strong, consistent identity that creates trust and understanding in an organization.”
