Immigration in the Philippines

The Philippine government’s drive to attract more foreign investors has made immigration procedures relatively simple. Our team has been working closely with the Bureau of Immigration, Department of Justice and Department of Labor and Employment to advise clients on immigration procedures.

We offer extensive experience in all immigration-related matters, and can assist clients in obtaining and extending work visas and alien employment permits for expatriate personnel in the Philippines. Our practice covers the following areas:

Final ruling on NLRA rights posting requirement The National Labor Relations Board has passed its final rule requiring private sector employers to post a notice of employee rights under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA). We examine the implications of the posting requirement and offer guidance on complying with the rule.		FY2012 cap for new H-1B visas reached The US Citizenship and Immigration Services will no longer process new H-1B visa petitions for fiscal year 2012, after receiving more petitions than can be granted under the quota limits. We share insights on exemptions under the H-1B quota and other alternative visas available for employers and foreign nationals.		Union Certification Application and unfair labor charges dismissed Baker & McKenzie assists Wal-Mart in obtaining the dismissal of a Certification Application filed by the United Food and Commercial Workers Canada and unfair labor practice complaints, bringing an end to one of the highest-profile and longest-running cases before the Ontario Labour Relations Board.
