Patrick J. Ahern practices in the areas of antitrust and litigation. His experience includes representing some of the world’s largest oil companies across various US courts. Among other publications, Mr. Ahern co-authored sections on the Noerr-Pennington Doctrine and Premerger Notification as an update on the chapter of "Antitrust Considerations" of the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education Health Care Handbook (1990 update). He also served as assistant editor of The Antitrust Law Journal from 1994-1996, and editorial board member of the ABA Antitrust Law Development Treatise from 1997 to 1998.

Mr. Ahern focuses on antitrust litigation and counseling, as well as commercial litigation and class actions. He has also led numerous presentations at meetings of the ABA Antitrust Section.

Obtained highly favorable judgment for BP (British Petroleum) in a case alleging breach of representations and warranties in connection with stock purchase agreement relating to the sale of a USD105 million company.

Won a case for BP in a three-month trial in Los Angeles federal court against BP, Mobil and Chevron, alleging a market allocation conspiracy.

Handled nationwide class action against Mobil and other oil companies alleging false advertising under the Lanham Act.

Won a summary judgment in antitrust conspiracy case against Mobil and other oil companies.
