Jonathan Walsh heads the Firm’s Structured Capital Markets team in the London office, where he also serves as co-head of the Firm's Global Securitization Practice Group. He is recommended as a leading lawyer in his area of practice by Legal 500, Chambers, Legal Experts and Global Counsel 3000. Jonathan is also one of the few capital markets lawyers included in the 2009 edition of the International Who's Who of Capital Markets Lawyers. Jonathan has authored numerous trade publications, particularly with reference to the new Basel Accord's impact on securitization. He is admitted to practice in England and Wales.

Jonathan provides insightful advice on securitization transactions involving numerous different asset classes. Jonathan has acted for a broad range of clients — such as conduit sponsors, originators, lead managers and trustees — on term and commercial paper transactions that involve several jurisdictions, including the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands. He also advises on various matters relating to asset classes, including insurance premium financing, residential mortgages, sub-prime mortgages, commercial mortgages and consumer loans, among others.

Advised National Australia Bank (NAB) on the set up of the USD10 billion asset - backed commercial paper conduit, CentreStar.

Advised NAB on the establishment of three securities arbitrage programmes, CentreStar Bonds 1, CentreStar Bonds 2, CentreStar Bonds 3 and on a Commercial property securitisation funded by the CentreStar conduit.

Advised Bear, Stearns on the first issue of mortgage backed securities by Farringdon Mortgages No. 1 PLC, being in relation to sub-prime mortgages originated by Rooftop Mortgages Limited.

Advised Bear Stearns on a number of residential mortgage backed securities transactions from the Mansard program (which he also set up for Bear Stearns).
