James Masters is an associate in the Construction team at Baker & McKenzie, Melbourne. James' practice focuses on the development and documentation of complex domestic and international projects, and contractual and non-contractual claims arising from construction projects in the resources (mining, oil and gas), property, infrastructure (road, rail and plant) and education and research sectors.

James works with major global, regional and Australian project developers, consortia and contractors to successfully resolve complex, cross-border issues affecting their projects. He has experience in Australian state and federal courts, domestic and international arbitrations, and in foreign jurisdictions including Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

- Advised a global pipeline construction company on claims arising during the construction of a A$300 million plus pipeline measuring more than 900 km across three Australian states.
- Acted for the Geelong Football Club in relation to the re-development of the New Southern Stand at Simonds Stadium (Kardinia Park) in Geelong, Victoria.
- Acted for the University of Melbourne in relation to the A$210 million plus development of the Peter Doherty Institute research facility.
- Acted for the University of Melbourne in relation to the A$165 million development of the Kenneth Myer Building housing the Melbourne Brain Centre.
- Acted for the Victorian Department of Transport in relation to preparation of agreements for the Victorian Electric Vehicle Trial.
