Prior to joining Baker & McKenzie, he served as chief cabinet to the Spanish Secretary of State on Industry and Energy, and acted as legal counsel for a Spanish public industrial holding company. Mr. Escat regularly collaborates with economic newspapers and publications, and has authored several articles in various specialized journals.

Representative Legal Matters
- Represented Emed Mining, a Cypriot company listed in the London Stock Exchange Market, in the acquisition and restart of mining exploitation activities in the historical copper Ríotinto mines located in Huelva, Spain. This deal has entailed substantial advice in various legal areas, including general commercial, corporate, public, tax, labor, financial and IP.
- Acted for Minotaure Exploration Ltd. in an option to explore and work mineral deposits at Almadén, for a consideration of 2 percent nsr, payable to Mayasa, a company owned by Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales, a Spanish state-owned holding.
- Represented Minotaure Exploration Ltd in the acquisition of a mining concession of the mine "Los Santos", a tungsten deposit located in Salamanca, from Siemcalsa.
- Advised Petratherm Ltd., an Australian listed company, on incorporation of its Spanish subsidiary. Provided substantial advice in various legal areas, including general commercial, corporate, public, tax, labor, and regulatory.
- Advised Elsewedy Cables in an acquisition by an Egyptian-listed company, in different tranches, of M. Torres Olvega Industrial S.L., a Spanish company whose activity is the production and commercialization of wind turbines.
- Represented Green Renewable Energy, a Monaco-based Fund Green Renewable Energy, in the acquisition of solar projects in Spain and Italy.
