On Tuesday, March 1st Baker & McKenzie's Washington, DC office hosted a reception for the Jamaican Ambassador to the US Audrey P. Marks. Over 150 guests, including the Jamaican Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett and high-ranking officials from the The World Bank, International Monetary Fund, and the Inter-American Development Bank, joined to welcome the newly-appointed Ambassador, the first woman to hold this important post.
"We appreciate the opportunity for the firm to partner with our global neighbors, and salute the selection of a talented entrepreneur as Ambassador to the United States," said Managing Partner of the Washington, DC office, Elizabeth Espin Stern. The Firm, led by Miami-based partner, Simon Beck, has advised the Jamaica Trade and Industry group on the establishment of a financial services center in Jamaica. Simone Williams, an associate of Jamaican descent in the Washington, DC office initiated the event with the Ambassador.
This event, one of several recent receptions honoring Ambassadors to the US held by the Washington office, highlights the Firm's ongoing commitment to building local and global communities.
