Baker & McKenzie Advises Japanese Banks on Acquisition Financing for a US Manufacturing Company

A cross-office Baker & McKenzie team recently advised two leading Japanese banks on behalf of a consortium of Japanese lenders, in connection with the acquisition financing of a Japanese consortium’s cross-border acquisition of 100 percent of the outstanding shares of a US manufacturing company. The acquisition financing is valued at over USD400 million.
The Baker & McKenzie team was drawn from the Firm’s Tokyo and New York offices. The team was led by Tokyo banking and finance partners Naoaki Eguchi and Gavin Raftery, who advised on the overall structure of the transaction, as well as New York banking and finance partner Janna Bellwin, who advised on the New York law aspects of the transaction. Tokyo associates Toshio Shimada and John Inglis and New York associate Rekha Auld assisted with this transaction.
