Our inclusion in the
GAR rankings is indicative of our world-class practice and demonstrates the significant investment we've made to deliver this important service to clients. We have provided excellent arbitration work for clients in many jurisdictions for many years. The Firm moved up 14 spots from last year and according to GAR, "Its rise appears related more to improved global practice management and communication than anything else."
The GAR 100 is an annual guide to specialist international arbitration law firms, produced by the editorial team who selects the busiest 30 firms to be included in the GAR 30, an annual ranking of the top 30 international arbitration practices. The GAR 30
rankings take into account the number of merits hearings between 2009 and 2010, the total value of those disputes and the number of bet-the-company cases. It also ranks firms by the reputation of their arbitration lawyers and the collective experience of the practice.
Over the past two years, lawyers from Baker & McKenzie's International Arbitration practice have helped major multinationals win cases with billions of dollars at stake. The firm has also successfully defended the Republic of Uzbekistan, the state of Papua New Guinea, a major Chinese airline and a consortium that built a new metro-transport system. Today, the International Arbitration practice is handling more than 140 pending matters with over USD40 billion at stake.
