With our far-reaching international capabilities and reach, we help navigate complexity across all types of boundaries with ease and sophistication — and clients appreciate the truly global difference and value we provide. The results of two PLC Which Lawyer? rankings reflect how well we seamlessly operate around the world for our clients.
In a survey of over 5,500 in-house counsel, our Firm topped the PLC Which Lawyer? 2009 Law Firm Awards in Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. For the second year running, Baker & McKenzie has received the most recognition among the world’s top firms.
"We are honored once again by this important recognition from PLC Which Lawyer?," said John Conroy, chairman of our Executive Committee. "We are deeply committed to value-added client service, so it is especially gratifying when our clients appreciate and acknowledge the added value we provide to them throughout the world. This is a very encouraging affirmation of our fluency in meeting their global needs."
Our Firm was recognized as the Law Firm of the Year in Asia for the fifth consecutive year. Survey respondents cited our "deep local knowledge and experience, and coverage of major markets" in the region.
And for two years in a row, our Firm also received the Law Firm of the Year award for both Latin America and the Middle East. PLC Which Lawyer? commended how we leverage our "international experience" for clients in Latin America. In the Middle East, almost half of the surveyed in-house counsel selected our "highly professional" Firm for the award — and our work in project finance and the Saudi market were particularly highlighted.
The way we leverage our unique and truly global platform — deep roots and fluent legal capabilities across 67 jurisdictions — has also soundly earned us the top spot in the PLC Which Lawyer? Top 20 Firms of 2009. PLC Which Lawyer? compiled the list from surveys, interviews and research across more than 100 jurisdictions.
Our fourth straight win since 2005, we led the rankings by almost half of the points awarded to our nearest competitor. PLC Which Lawyer? ascribed our Firm’s resilience to our "breadth of expertise and global presence" and "vast international client base."
