David Halliday is a partner in the IT/Communications Practice Group in Baker & McKenzie's London office. His practice spans a broad range of contentious and non-contentious work in the IT/telecoms area, with particular focus on dispute resolution.

Practice Focus

David’s extensive experience in the IT and communications sector includes long-term technology services, outsourcing, software/systems procurement and development, and privacy and data protection. He focuses principally on dispute resolution in the field of technology and outsourcing contracts, and has represented numerous major suppliers and customers in contract renegotiation.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Advising a leading supplier of playout and universal access services to the broadcasting industry in defending a proposed unilateral termination of several key contracts by a customer, and subsequent negotiated exit.
  • Acting for a mobile network operator in the High Court in relation to a dispute with a supplier of telecoms infrastructure services.
  • Advising on disputes in, and subsequently renegotiating, a global telecoms (fixed, mobile, data) outsourcing agreement for a multinational telecoms company with a key customer.
  • Advising a global supplier of IT services on disputes arising from infrastructure and application outsourcing arrangements with a customer in the online travel sector.
  • Advising a leading IT services vendor on disputes arising from a major UK defence project.
