Dr. Daniel Krone is a senior associate in the Firm’s Information Technology Practice Group. Usually based in Munich, he is currently working in the Chicago office, where he counsels international clients on European and German IT and media matters. Dr. Krone has written and co-authored various books and articles in his field, and has taught media law at universities in Münster, Osnabrück, Moscow and Paris.

Practice Focus

Dr. Krone routinely advises clients on all aspects of information technology and digital media. His practice includes acting for clients in relation to outsourcing deals, software contracts, content licensing and regulation, e-commerce and data privacy. A former head of the media research group at the University of Münster's Institute for Information, Telecommunications and Media Law (ITM), Dr. Krone is also widely experienced in European and German broadcasting laws and regulations.

• Advised one of the world’s leading film and TV producers on various matters in relation to copyright disputes, contracts and regulatory compliance.
• Acted on behalf of a DAX30 company on structuring and negotiating an ITO worth over EUR800 million.
• Advised a Fortune 50 company on developing and implementing a privacy solution for employee data transfers by several hundred business entities.
• Acted on behalf of a German government contractor on planning and coordinating the implementation of a whistleblowing hotline in 32 countries.
• Advised the nonprofit organizations PILI and IREX pro bono in relation to developing freedom of information laws in Nepal and Georgia.
