Dr. Christoph Rittweger heads the Firm's German-Austrian Information Technology Practice Group, and is a member of Baker & McKenzie's Global Privacy Steering Committee. He is consistently ranked as a leading lawyer in outsourcing, IT law and data privacy by PLC Which Lawyer? and JUVE Handbook, among others. He regularly publishes articles on IT related issues and is a frequent speaker in seminars relating to IT law and outsourcing matters. Prior to joining the Munich office, Dr. Rittweger practiced in the Firm's Frankfurt and San Francisco offices.
Practice Focus
Dr. Rittweger focuses on the legal aspects of information technology, media, sourcing, data protection, as well as other e-commerce matters. He has acted extensively for global market leaders in the service provider sector, as well as on the client side of deals. He is experienced in handling large outsourcing and IT procurement projects, and is also seasoned in privacy compliance matters. Dr. Rittweger was the first outside counsel to receive regulatory approval for BCRs in a European Union member state.

- Advised Siemens on various international IT outsourcing deals.
- Advised Convergys on the worldwide outsourcing of HR services of two pharmaceutical companies, both deals valued above USD1 billion.
- Advised General Electric on the implementation of Binding Corporate Rules as a global compliance tool for international data transfers (first outside counsel to receive regulatory approval for BCRs in a European Union member state).
- Advised Esprit on the implementation of a global SAP system.
- Advised one of the world’s largest social networks on its market entry into Europe.
- Advised various multinational companies on the data protection aspects of the implementation of global HR systems, talent management systems, CRM systems, whistleblowing hotlines and compliance databases.
