Carmela Hernandez works in the Firm’s Global banking & Finance Practice Group in Chicago. She routinely advises clients on legal issues arising in their Latin American/US cross-border issues with an emphasis on projects and international tax planning. M. Hernandez is co-author to “Aspects of the Tax Systems in the Andean Countries that Concern Foreign Investors” – a paper presented at a regional seminar organized by the General Secretariat of the Andean Community and the Inter-American Development Bank.
Practice Focus
Ms. Hernandez advises multinational companies on transactional and tax work with primary focus on Latin America and in-bound US investment. Her clients include companies in the transportation, infrastructure, energy and manufacturing industries.
Representative Legal Matters
- Counseled sponsors and their project company in Argentina on the purchase of ARS $331 million in multilateral bank indebtedness.
- Advised a railway operator in Panama on its PAB B/.100 million offering of 7% senior secured notes.
