Bryony Binns is a partner in Baker & McKenzie's Melbourne office working in the Employment Group. Bryony regularly advises on general employment issues and has been involved in related litigation matters. Her advice work has a strong focus on managing employee and industrial risks in commercial transactions and change management, and anti-discrimination laws both in relation to employment and the provision of goods and services.
Practice Focus
Utilising the Firm’s extensive network, Bryony regularly co ordinates multi jurisdictional advice across the Asia Pacific region for a number of clients. She has worked in Baker & McKenzie’s Bangkok office, and until recently was located in Baker & McKenzie's Sydney office.
Bryony regularly provides training on the topics of discrimination, occupational health and safety, and performance management designed to assist clients in managing their relationships with employees and minimise the risk of disputes and litigation. Bryony has also completed an internship with the Australian Human Rights Commission.
Representative Legal Matters
- Advising on transaction-related employment issues in the context of both asset and share sales, including advising on redundancy, termination, transfer, hiring and integration issues, and sale structure issues relating to employees and other service providers.
- Advising on and defending general employment-related litigation including breach of contract, unfair dismissal and adverse action claims, whistleblower and privacy complaints.
- Advising on and defending unlawful discrimination (employment and non-employment related) and harassment litigation in both State and federal jurisdictions (New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia).
- Acting in trade practices and other employment related contract litigation before the Supreme Court of New South Wales and Federal Court.
