The Federal Court handed down a landmark judgement in the case of
Bathurst Regional Council v. Local Government Financial Services Pty Ltd (No. 5) 1200. The case poses serious implications for rating agencies in that it may encourage other investors in other jurisdictions to pursue rating agencies. The decision may also lead to significant reforms by financial service regulators.
