On 16 March 2011 a bill to order a Reform and Addition to the Civil and Criminal Codes of México City was submitted to the Board of Directors of the V Legislature of the México City Legislative Body.
The purpose of this bill was to create a Registry of Child Support/Alimony Defaulters (REDAM for its Spanish initials) and to classify the failure to meet the obligation to pay child support or alimony as an offense.
